SIP
SIP trunking is an alternative to ISDN30 for providing multiple lines into a single building. Open standards ensure compatibility with a wide range of equipment while maintaining low costs.
We have deployed SIP as a means of cost-effectively scaling the capacity of contact management centres at one end of the spectrum and simply as a means of porting numbers across from site-to-site in other situations.
Due to its reliance upon IP networks, SIP is not always seen as being wholly resilient. However, network resilience improves and cost-differentials improve, it is likely that it will start to proliferate.
Look out for the launch of voice-over ethernet in Q4, 2011.
